    Port glasses: the dark side

My evil twin has once again come out to display his dark side. This time he was inspired to display the port glasses as they appear on his secret society's pedestal during the opening ceremony of their meetings. I assume the ceremony includes a group swearing of the oath and secret handshakes followed by a regal pour of vintage port and toasting to the success of the society and its members. However, being a loyal member, he wouldn't tell me any of the details and I've never been a member of a secret society.

EDIT: My evil twin didn't intially tell me that he was working on a version that is reminiscent of film noir. I have now added his second version shown below.

The Secret Society allowed you to photograph them?

My evil twin, who is a member of the secret society, photographed them.

Beautifully photographed as always. I have a strong preference for the colour version... The B&W is far too sinister for me.

Aside... I also like the colour version with the rims of the top 3 glasses cropped off.

Ahhhhhhhh. I see that my photo worked!

That's an aspect ratio that even I can't accept and I like panoramic aspect ratios. The width in the above two photos is twice as long as the height. I can't bring myself to go nearly three times as long.

I thought you might say, exactly that.

It was just the close up view of all the colours, shadows and highlights and feeling like one was inside the glasses looking through all the other glasses, a maze of beautiful colour, highlights and shadows.

Try viewing the first one in Lytebox and when you have fallen in love with the colours there, click the arrow to bring up the next one. THAT is sinister!

Very nice Mike; I'm favoring the color this go around, very creative how the stem of the far center glass is visible through the foreground glass (maybe that's why he went with this particular crop) - my compliments to the chef!

Thank you, everyone! I'm especially grateful to see that the two photos are being seen not just as color vs. monochrome; they are being seen as completely different well beyond that, as I had hoped.

That's one of the reasons for that crop. The most important reasons were to tightly frame the six glasses and to eliminate the extraneous, unhelpful information captured by the sensor.
