Anybody have any idea what these birds are?

Too far away really even for 300mm on M 4/3. I suspect these birds were resting during migration. Not sure. 2/3 reduction of a full res crop. Silly me allowing F10 too I suspect.

Anybody have any idea what these birds are?

Looks to be Greylag geese, if so this is the wild form from which domesticated geese were derived.

Thanks for the info. They are about in the UK but mostly in Scotland in a truly wild state. They have been introduced in other places and become tame. In total there must have been 40 or so of them all sitting in a field. Maybe they were wild ones, they started moving as soon as they saw me. Bit of a rushed shot.

I like it but suspect F8 might have been a bit sharper looking at the grass and wish I could have got a bit nearer to them.

Missed a flying duck thanks to the rain.

Very beautiful shot, John...I like the sharpness. If you could have done better, would have been nice, but this one is passable enough. Maybe you'll be lucky soon enough.

I was lucky. Two decided to pose for me on my 3rd shot. Gut feeling type shot., no time to think. Much more interesting than the 2 before where they just sat.
