Hi Izzie, thanks for your input. I was so pleased with this mornings results that I went back near the same area tonight for the sunset and it makes such a change from the pressure of chasing bugs to be able to enjoy not only taking the pics but to be able to stand back and admire the beauty of the scene.

Love the detail in the 3rd and I like the character of the tree.

The color in the 2nd is hard to beat but I really miss the full reflection that you showed us in the 1st.

The changes in color of light in these shots is a great reminder of how fast the light can change around sunrise and sunset and how patience is often rewarded with very different feelings evoked in the images captured.
Shane, my mono work is not too good but I'll have a try but definitely agree about cropping some of the sky which I did on some others I have since PPd.

I'll see if I can capture another No 2 with the full reflection, I should have noticed that at the time.

You are right about the patience around sunrise and sunsets, we are reminded here all the time and this evening I took note remaining until it was almost too dark to see the camera

    Dear Grahame,

All 3 are nice. The crop and composition of #1 allows you to focus on the tree and directs your attention there. #2 is special because of the colors of the sunrise against the tree. #3 is nice because the light allows an almost a minimalist approach = sky, tree, water

All in all, a respectable showing.

Well thank you Marie, a minimalist scene is something I have tried to capture and intend to pursue this using the light if possible.

This series is an example of the sum of the parts being greater than the whole.

This subject and style would make a great portfolio. Definitely encourage you to use the ND filter and monochrome for additional variety.

Thank you Mike, I have had a good go with the NDs at another near location this evening and managed to get the effect I want, not overdone but just enough to help accentuate the light on the water. In total at the brightest time I used the polariser, plus an ND4 and a GND, which greatly assisted getting the light balanced between sea and sky making exposure easier.

As for the B&W I'll have a go but at this moment I seem to have too many images that I want to PP from just a couple of short sessions.

They are gorgeous Grahame I like the water as it is in those images ,very nice light and reflections..With an ND filter they would probably be nice images again, but they would be different images as a part of your set.

    #3 Really appeals to me.
I'm so impressed that you are able to shoot into the sun as with #2 and still get such a nicely balanced exposure. I have been particularly frustrated recently shooting in the direction of a low sun.
All three are a continuation of the nice work you have been showing. Well done!

Clearly shows that 'the early bird catches the worm'.....or the photograph. Worth the early start!
