Helpful Posts: As I walked past this bubbler I noticed that it was leaking and decided I would try to turn it off. But as I approached it, this wagtail landed on it - as if to say, "leave it alone". Naturally, I started shooting but stupidly didn't think to check my settings and so the shutter speed was way too slow and I feel I have blown a great opportunity.
Still, I really like the composition and want to share these few shots. The first one looks flat because I had a hard time recovering the highlights (and there is still a blown patch of white feathers...).

Of course, these birds don't stay still for long and I only managed two frames before it dropped to the ground for a bath
#2 Can I have a little privacy?
Even though the focus is off, I love this shot. It looks like he is blowing bubbles...

However this final shot - completely blurry - captures the essence of the Wagtail for me...

Very fun series... you already know what could have made it better so no need to beat a dead horse. Overall I think it is cute and fun and considering everything.... pretty good.

I can see why you like them. I'm not sure that every single photo MUST be in focus. Surely there's a place for some that are not, completely, depending on what you want to show/say.

Thank you, Amanda, Jeff, David, Rita, Izzie, John 2, John, Binnur, Pania and Grahame. I am glad you all see the fun side in these, they put a smile on my face. I agree with you Pania, out of focus shots are ok when the blur is intentional, or when the blur conveys a stronger impression than a sharply focused image could - which I think is the case with the 4th.
