I'm not sure what you meant by the title, "I'm not sure what I did wrong". Can you explain?

i'm not sure if the title is rhetorical or if you are seeking advice. However, if there is something 'wrong' here I think it would be shooting in the harsh, contrasty light that the flower is in. I think softer or more even lighting would result in a nicer image - using a reflector or diffuser to even things out or a different time of day when the light isn't quite so harsh would probably help a lot.

I don't get it either Brian. The shot looks good but maybe it looked different in your viewfinder.

I like the image too, but also feel that if it had been shot in softer light, or a diffuser used to soften the sunlight it could have improved it. But well done on creating such a lovely image

    Hi Brian,

The title confuses me. Does it mean that you have taken an image that you consider good or one that you consider not so good?

For me as with many of your flower shots it is too harsh due to the lighting and possibly processing as well. Whilst being a striking flower visually it's probably one of the many that does not photograph well due to its shape and untidy appearance.

For me there is something not right. your comments about the shape and untidy appearance ring a bell in me. maybe even a bit much in the pp a you suggest.
