I'm having a lot of fun with the D700 and the AIS 55mm micro. I shot both of these at f/2.8. My only concern is that I'm seeing some banding in the OOF areas. Do you see it? Perhaps I'm pushing the PP too hard?

The first one, meh. The second, beautiful--very romantic.
When I looked really close I could see the banding that you mentioned. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in. It's not horrible though and I had to let my eyes adjust while lookin' pretty hard to see it.

I'm not familiar with "meh" -- doesn't sound good, though. "Beautiful" and "romantic" I get. Thanks for looking and commenting.
