    Serene Reflection of New Delhi

    Hi, going forward on my photography venture I stopped and clicked another shot. Can you please review it and let me know what exactly is missing for it to make it much better?

    It is an image of india gate, New Delhi. I took it early morning and my first attempt for long exposures in Day Time.

    It is a 180 second shot. It was clicked with 11mm so there were a great perspective distortion in the monument. I tried my best to fix it.

    I really wanted to capture trees of the right because of the shape they are making with reflection.

    Thank You

    PS : Please click on the image for lightbox screen view (Highly recommended).

    Update 1: Cropped from left (brought india gate with rule of thirds) , Cropped from the bottom and did straightening as suggested.

    Thanks for your valuable review and appreciation. Yup Breeze was not there but light changed very quickly after this shot.

    Very nice shot; could I suggest a few things you might want to try?

    1. The shot does not look quite level; so a tiny bit of straightening might be in order;

    2. An composition whose horizon is centred is usually not as strong as one that is offset. You might want to try trimming the bottom part of the water closer to where the reflections start might result in something a bit stronger; and

    3. Having the subject centred usually does not work as well as having it more assymetrical (think of the rule of thirds). Trimming some of the material on the left or the right might give you a stronger composition,

    Thanks a ton for your kind review and sharing such wonderful knowledge about the crop. I have cropped the image as suggested from left (Keeping India Gate with rule of thirds) and bottom (cropped close to the reflection) and also straightened it too.

    I think that this corp strengthens the shot; but the other issue is that the fountain and India gate compete to be the main subject. You might want to try a view where you crop most of the tree on the left to see how that looks.

    I like #2 very much,even if you get another possibily good version by cropping the tree from left as Manfred says,I would still keep #2 as a nice photo with very nice reflections

    Thanks a ton for the suggestion on the crop. It really made the image strong enough. I'm not sure if you are suggesting me to crop more from the left? Please confirm, sorry got confused.

    Just realised it is breaking the rule of odds. lol
