    Same shed, different day

    Same shed but this time taken with my A65 Sony, 28-75mm f/2.8 lens @ 28mm iso 100 1/125, f/11
Also took the same shot with my old Pentax SP 1000 film camera, just for fun using the same settings so I'm keen to see how the images compare.
I tried the same shot at f/5.6 and the rail in the foreground was so blurry that I found it distracting, so this was the better of the two in my opinion.
Composition? Is it too busy, there are are a few things in there fighting for priority, the rail, the trees on the right and the shed itself.
What I was trying to achieve was using the leading line of the rail to draw the viewer towards the shed. Perhaps I should have hopped the fence and taken the shot from the other side.
I will be back there tomorrow so I will give it another go.

    C&C welcome

I admire that you're revisiting the scene and trying various compositions. All of us would do well to follow your example more often. I think you got just the right amount of blur.

When a leading line or foreground object is as prevalent as the one in this composition, I think the object itself needs to be more interesting than this object is.

Your right Mike, the rail is overpowering in this image and that's not what I wanted.
I will give it some thought and see what I can come up with tomorrow.
    Thanks for your help

Greg...there is potential in this image if you crop it a little bit more to get rid of that dead tree at the right side. Have you tried that? Then your leading line will be more effective, I guess...

    Greg,

The first thing I notice in this shot is the texture and color of the building. It makes for a nice contrast with the surroundings. I also like the bit of drama in the sky. I agree with Isabel. I think I'd try to crop a little tighter on the right and bottom. The dead tree isn't contributing, and I believe you have a bit more space than you need on the bottom left. The rail might work if you tried a horizontal perspective shift (do you use Lightroom?) so that the rail is coming more from the corner of the image. I'd be interested in seeing that, combined with a new crop. All that said, I think you were thinking right when you shot the image.

I like this image. but then I am an old building fan.
Maybe this place has some monochrome potential?

I'm on site at the moment so will head over at lunch to do a re-shoot and see if I can improve the image
