Man! the last time I had a rack of lamb was when I was single and still living in Australia full time. These looks very good. I like the reflections.
yes ...something about this looks quite good...
Thank you to James and Izzie!
Sadly, one of the racks went immediately into the trash after making this photo. It didn't exhibit any visual characteristics indicating that it had gone bad but it was older than the other one and didn't smell right. I have a nose that detects nearly nothing, so when I was able to smell something wrong, it was probably very wrong. The other rack that I cooked tasted great!

really nice lighting Mike. Curious about the blue on the left. Great job on the reflections. BTW thanks for all your help with my lightbox project.
Thanks, Travis!
I was curious about the blue tones on the left also. They were there in the scene before I released the shutter and I was really glad to see that they were captured so well in the file. I'm guessing that the layer of fat is thin enough to be translucent, so the color of the red meat underneath is being affected by the color of the fat, resulting in a blue tone.
Your parents must not have treated you like mine did when they caught you playing with your food![]()
Another edible creation. Maybe the blue is the source of the odor you mentioned![]()
Great image Mike,I to like the reflections and your lighting looks spot on!
David
Bon Image, bon appetite.
Thank you, David and John!
Nice shot Mike (bad smell or not). It would have made a nice before and after shot if you had taken another image of it coming out of the oven.
Gee, if I had known you were cooking, I would have tried to drop in on you when we got stuck in DC a couple of weeks ago. Nice wine and lamb; yum!
Manfred,
The next time you happen to be in the DC area, I'll be very disappointed if we don't get together. Please reach out any time you have at least 30 minutes of spare time here (there). As for the before-and-after idea, I actually don't like viewing photographs of cooked meat nearly as much as photographs of raw meat.

Thanks for the invite.
We were flying through DC (Dulles) on our way back from Guatemala and were caught by the tail end of the last big storm that passed through that way; there was a plane on the ground, complete with cabin crew and co-pilot; but no captain.
After a couple of delays they finally cancelled and I had to line up for over 2 hours to rebook. Just to complicate matters, with all the cancellations that day, the only flight we could get was early next morning out of Regan - National. So find a hotel, arrange for early morning transfer (7:00 AM departure), so really had no time to do much other than get a hotel and get some sleep . Had they cancelled at 5:00PM instead of 8:00 PM, things would have been a lot easier...
We got home the next day (Sunday) but the bags got messed up in the system and did not arrive home until Thursday.
What fun...
So, whenever I get a chance to get down to DC again, I'll try to touch base.
I was disappointed, I expected to see some caramelized meats.![]()
Nice shot.
