Really great![]()
Very nice David, but I would rotate it for a better view.I had to rotate my head instead![]()
Cheers John![]()
Thank you Nandakumar![]()
The second one is soooooooooo much better David...(I was wondering what was wrong with it until I saw Binnur's comments and your correcting the orientation...)
An Eristalis tenax, David. Often the first hoverflies to appear in spring and the last to be seen in autumn. But they can be hard to find during the summer. Although in some years they are very common all year.
Notice the faint dark banding across the eyes. That is one of the identification features - but very difficult to capture in photographs.
Beautiful, and yes landscape is better
Great detail on the wing there David. I to like the rotation. Good one once again! !![]()
Thank you Izzie, yep have to agree![]()
Cheers Geoff, thank you once again for the proper identification,Iv'e never noticed the banding before, another first for me

Thanks for your comments Kaye, much appreciated![]()
Cheers Claudio, the first image was the way it was taken so i thought that it looked ok,just goes to show what a good forum this is,i would never have thought to rotate it if Binnur had not mentioned it,it defo works better this way![]()
Hi David,
I can't say much more than it's spot on !
That detail in the wing is perfect and the DoF is just right. I found a similar subject, rare here, crawling on the ground yesterday which looked dazed and thought about taking it indoors for a shoot but considered that not fair if it was unwell.
Grahame
Cheers Grahame,
Thanks for your comments bud, always appreciated!
You sound like me,a big softy when it comes to animals
