The photo might look OK, subject to comments above, but the main question for me is 'What is it'?
The antennae of a fly but a narrow wasp like abdomen joint! 
Got me beat at the moment.

oh the highlights again?! hahaha, i should have listened to the wife, i really need my eyeglasses..thanks David and Isabel, will try to tone it done a bit next time..

Geoff f, i too have no idea what bug is this, though it's common sight here during summer, they are quick, with quirky jerky movement. i just got lucky and found them when they are about to nest?/rest for the night.
