Gorgeous. I love the snowy background, and the way you framed the squirrel very nicely amidst all those branches.

I especially adore the moment captured in the 2nd image.

Nice shots. Thanks for posting these. I'm looking at the lens as a definite possibility. I would like something longer than my 70-300mm Nikkor but not at Nikon prices. The reviews have been very positive and his seems to fit the bill at about half that I would have to pay for the nearest Nikon offering.

Jim, it looks like your new purchase is a winner; those are two super shots.
I particularly like the first one; the little critter's expression is great.

    Re: Cold lunch

    Jim,

I really like #2. The great, warm color of the animal in contrast to the coldness of the environment is striking to me. The composition really works for me as well. The shallow depth of field is good, and I like the way you've framed the animal with the branches. It gives me a great sense of place for the shot. I know shooting wildlife is anything but controlled, but in a perfect world I'd want to see less of the tree just right of center. Also, I think I'd add just a touch of dark vignette to keep my eyes on the subject. That said, I love the image. The expression and gesture are great and the contrast in color makes the shot for me. Well done!

Thanks for all the kind words.
I'll post some more photos when I get some time. Weather is not cooperating right now.

Awesome shots. I agree with everyone else, the colour of the Squirrel against the snowy background is great.
