Printing issue - any thoughts?

Hi,

I have a calibrated and profiled monitor, and I am printing on Permajet paper with a custom profile provided by Permajet. Always using Canon inks.

Up until fairly recently, I was content with the match between what I was seeing on the screen, and what I saw on paper.

I have changed two things: got a new PC running Win 7 (and hence new printer drivers, of course), and upgraded to Lightroom 5.3. Could either of those changes necessitate the need for a new paper/printer profile?

Please ignore the previous post. I was trying to produce some decent prints for a framing course over the weekend, and could not get even acceptable results. The strangest thing is that having played around with just about every slider, I went back to my original settings, and all is well again. Either I was having a brain storm first time around (quite likely) or Lightroom (or maybe the printer?) had thrown a wobbly and then corrected itself. I guess I will never know

the output profile is specific to the printer,paper, and ink. Should be independent of the Operating system and the software (assuming it is colour managed - and LR is).
Should also be independent of the printer driver because that, in any case, should have colour management disabled.
IOW I'd have expected the original profile to work fine.
As it seems to be now.

And Media Settings. That's an important one because you'll get different results if you son't specify the same settings as it was profiled under.
