    Hi Claudio,

These have way better lighting and exposure than I have ever managed to achieve, well done.

    Re: Ladybug

    That one looks interesting, Claudio.

My first thoughts were for a 13 spot (Hippodamia 13-punctata) but it also looks rather like an Adonis' ladybird (Hyppodamia variegata). Both fairly uncommon in the UK. But it could be one that we don't get here.

Regarding what to do with insect images; In my particular little room which I use for wildlife study plus general computer work, I am surrounded by 15 x 12 ins prints of insects.

I produce a few wildlife calendars each year. And I send good quality images to the management organisations of some of the wildlife areas where the photos were shot. These can then be used for educational purposes, as well as confirmation of the species records for that site.

There are a number of internet based wildlife sites which welcome good quality images, like yours, for identification and education purposes.

And you can place your photos on one of the more serious photo hosting sites for public viewing.

I don't know what happens where you live but I will give some examples of sites which I use.

    http://www.hoverfly.org.uk/album_cat.php?cat_id=1

    A ladybird survey site http://www.ladybird-survey.org/gallery.aspx

There are also quite a few entomology clubs etc which operate locally, including the internet, and welcome input from 'cameras on the ground'.

But be warned, once you start down this road of attempting to name your models it can get quite involved and time consuming. To say nothing about the cost of all those identification books etc!

    Claudio,

Very artistic and well captured. Your flash work is certainly nailing the exposures and the lighting is pretty even with little shadow.

Not sure what the 'pros' do with their images but I fill hard drives with mine, put my favourites on my website and get some satisfaction when I do a Google search on some critters and up comes one of my images amongst the thousands of others

    Claudio,

The first thing that came to mind was "coffee table book" regarding the popularity or lack of popularity of insects.

    Hi Claudio,

I adore your ladybugs and would hang them on my wall, with pleasure. Beautiful light, colour and a gorgeous bokeh setting off a beautifully photographed ladybug!
