Wonderful additional work. Should go into some natural science museum.

Claudio - a couple of us have already said it - you don't want to tangle with one or worse a swarm.

Just to finish off my story - the worst bit was I did not get even ONE decent shot. Grrrr....

Went back a couple of days later to rectify that failing and the 2 nests were gone. I could smell that something had been burnt so looked around and found the charred remains on the ground. Apparently a villager who helped me told the local forestry people about the incident and rather than risk others getting stung they decided to deal with it.

    Andrew,

Thank you for the kind words. As for the PP work I am very much a novice and to be honest do not enjoy it as much as actually taking pictures. This one was very unusual for me in that I spent around 45 minutes on it as opposed to my normal 5 if that but it was worth it because of their faces.

What it has taught me (again) is get it right in camera, it really is worth it.

    Claudio, Bobo.

Thanks for the comments, it's one that will go in my favourites. I had another look at the nest today and it's well busy, have to think of a way to get a shot from lower to show the eggs

The first photo is great. Have you considered toning down the leaf on the top right or desaturating it a bit and adjust the green towards a brown shade. It may just become a little less of a distraction in an amazing shot. This may have already been suggested but I have not yet read all the posts. To catch the Hornets all smiling at the camera (well facing it) was wonderful.

Cleaned up, cloned the rear end out that offended Shane and the worst highlights.

    Hi Christina,

Thank you for the encouraging words. My landscape project seems to have come to a bit of a halt at present mainly due to the weather, way too hot and sunny, but I'm starting to investigate water drop refractions to keep me amused.

That's what I like about a forum like this. Other people can photograph the nasties. Great shots Grahame.

Thank you John, we need to do the 'nasties' now and again so we have something to measure 'cuteness' against

Thanks for removing the offending backside - I think it is an improvement on an awesome shot!

Good luck with the water drops - I can't wait to see your experiments

Shane, the only success with my water drop refractions so far is that they have not quite filled my recycle bin

I'm sure you will get it eventually Grahame...either that or the heat and humidity will subside so you can get back to your landscapes
