Thanks to Sharon (Daisy Mae), I gave it a try

Sharons' last post in her thread encouraged me to try - so here goes.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to imitate Sharon, (nobody can - she's unique).
But she inspired me to give it a try.
This is so far out of my comfort zone, I'm in a different zipcode!
After I got to this stage, I had to stop - everything else I tried didn't make it look better, the more things I tried to "improve", the worse it got.
I hope I'm not embarassing myself too much, but constructive critique is more than welcome.

This was actually a fun project, and I am working on another one. A totally different one. Sharon created a monster.
The actual photo was nothing to brag about, but served well as a base for this effort. I think I prefer the first one.

    Test 1.

Well if I created a monster it's a very talented one Kris and you most certainly are not embarrassing yourself...quite the opposite!

I like the first one best too. it has such a delicate touch..a gentle tracery that perfectly conveys a forest walk on a bright Summer day. It is quite ephemeral and yet the eye is subtely drawn to the figure. I like the little smattering of blue to the right of the figure, it adds depth without heaviness and to me it looks like there might be a pond there.

It's a lovely piece of work Kris and I am so glad you had fun doing it and have another one on the go. I'm impressed.

Very well done, especially the first one! You could use an aspect ratio that is more typical of a note card and it would be terrific used that way.

Kris, I do like these, and for me the first speaks most clearly at first glance. On further inspection though, I am more drawn to the second which has a crispness that focuses attention more on the path and the two wanderers.

It's an image I could be looking at for a very long time.

Thank you for the encouragement Sharon!
If only I had written down how I got here!! Since I was basically testing, and didn't expect much for a first try, I just played around with so many settings.....
Well, the one I'm working on now is absolutely and totally different - and I am keeping notes on that one.

Kris..I never ever write down how I 'got there'.

I am afraid that if I did it would become a formula and I would keep going back to it and it would become stale.

Every shot is a new page and I have lots of options at my disposal as to where it goes. I'd hate to lose that feeling of alchemy and excitment at something different taking shape in front of me.

Well, that makes sense. But since I'm such a novice at this, I like to get at least a referral point.

Nicely done Kris. I'm have a slight preference for the first for the reasons that others state and I look forward to seeing more of your art!
