Found this interesting piece of driftwood and set it up sort of the way chauncy did the vines.

1) ss 1/400 av. 5.6 iso 320


2) ss 1/160 av 7.1 iso 400

James...those are great. Having a photogenic perch/feeder makes a world of difference.
Hmm...might make an interesting hobby, churning those things out for profit.

$$ did you say profit. lol. Thanks Chauncey. I carefully measured out my minimum focusing distance from a comfy window, from where a good light hit. Then set up the drift wood and laid some black oil sunflower seeds on and around it, because it was close to an existing feeder there was no problem coercing the birds over to it.

Hi Izzie, first to answer your question it is about 32 inches tall, it has a basin with a taller perch above it and another gnarly nook below that basin. In 1 the chickadee is perched on rim of basin. In 2 the Tufted Titmouse is perched above. I will try to take a pic of set up and post it would be easier than explaining.

I just noticed your ISO setting, I recall reading someplace on the net...if it's on the net, it must be true...right?, that efficient ISO numbers, in terms of noise, should be whole numbers. ISO 320 churns out equal noise as does ISO 400.

Thanks Joe The lens is a 400 mm 5.6 prime. I may try some more with a 200 2.8 prime. There is a woodpecker that I cant fit in view with the 400.
