Thanks for commenting George. They have few predators due to their poisonous secretions if threatened and are classed as a pest here. Poison sacks can be seen on their sides just below the eyes.

    Hi Grahame,

    Thank you for sharing.

Nudging them very gently with an unlit torch, I hope.

Keep talking to them... I Googled them and it sounds like they have a thing for pet food. Perhaps try sprinkling some pet food on a giant tropical leaf (banana tree leaves, etc).

I tried photographing a wee frog once, and yes it was a great workout!

Coaxing them consists of talking quietly and explaining what you require and then pushing them around with the torch when they don't listen and move elsewhere. Once they are in a position where you can lie down full length with enough space to get the angle you want for a good 75% of attempts they disappear whilst you are getting your eye over the viewfinder. This results in a bit of swearing, getting up off the ground once again and starting from scratch. It's great exercise !

From my latest experience I have found that the smaller ones are more amenable to being picked up but have not yet learnt to remain where I place them

I'm busy thinking of different ways to pose them.
