Kathy, the foreground (brush) in the first shot IMHO is distracting. I do like the second photo.

I like the colours in these two images, Kathy. The golden rushes in the first one seem a little soft and I wonder if that is because there was a light breeze which was moving them during a long exposure?
When I open this shot in light box it fills my screen and takes about an inch off the top, and I think that works nicely to focus attention one the rushes.
I find the second one has a painterly feel to it. It reminds me of some of the great landscape artists.

I like both, however the second is more appealing. The first is shot very well, makes good use of leading lines, yet it leads us away from the best part of the image which is the reflective colors in the foreground.
