Nice work, Roger. Some really nice shots. The first pelican and the GBH are killer. The blurred BG on the first pellie works better than the ripply water on the second one. The dark BG on the egret obscures the view of the beak a bit. It looks like you were going for the reflection but it isn't clean. Concentrating on the bird and repositioning a bit to optimize the BG may have worked better.

Good shots. My initial reaction for the egret was that it might benefit from boosting the exposure/brightness a bit. (I'm using a profiled moniter but haven't checked to see how close the whites are to clipping so don't know how much headroom you have.)

Delightful as always. My favourite is the first for the gorgeous light and detail. I also like the 2nd image for the beautiful capture of the wings and beautiful colour in the 2nd image. The bokeh in the heron image is beautiful. I also like the egret image for the composition and reflection but it looks a little bit dark to me. The first image is my favourite, stunning.

Thanks Dan for the reply, I'm constantly reminding myself to slow down and think but usually just snapping away and realizing later what I should have done differently.

Thanks Bruce it would be interesting to know as I don't have a calibrated monitor and get a lot of comments that things look dark. I'm thinking on purchasing a new monitor as currently I work off of a macbook pro 15".

Tell me about it. But critiquing others' work is easy
