    The potentially over bright background has been nicely constrained without losing anything from the main subject.

    you know my preference for a little less close up and a little more background? I might have tried to bring in a little more top left.

    Cheers B,but this is the difference between 1-1 macro on a macro lens and just macro setting!If i were to add more top left it would be out of focus anyway then unless i came away from 1-1 focus the ant would be O.O.F. also.When you move back and get the subject in focus it might be 1-2 or 1-3 etc and is not classed as true macro!

    Good shot.

    Regarding more background or less background - imho that really depends on what story one is trying to portray. The other is size of subject. In this shot the balance seems about right.
