    Just checked the wing veins. Yes definitely Apis mellifera. Good clear images like this make identification a lot easier.

    We have had a mild although wet winter here and there are still a few out of season insects flying around. And Spring flowers are starting to show! Just hope they don't get ruined by a cold snap and then not appear at the appointed time.

    Thanks for your knowledgable comments Geoff,we had a freak cold spell here just over a week ago( -14dg )which killed just about every plant around Roll on spring
