This is little Elif, one of our five dogs, four of which were street dogs, we have rescued over the last three years since moving to Turkey from Scotland.

My partner and i decided after having dogs all our life's,that this would be a pet free start for us,we lasted nine months!

Now we have five dogs, two parrots, two budgies and a hamster! Elif

    Cheers David

    David,

Heart warming image. Congratulations and thanks for adopting these dogs in need.

My wife and I often say that we are going to reduce the numbers of foster dogs in our home so we also would have more freedom.

In fact, we did reduce the dogs to just our own poochies when we went to Europe this year. However, soon after we returned, there were more dogs who needed fostering.

We are fortunate in having a large home which over the years we set up for dogs. I will admit, that sometimes the number of dogs we are fostering seem somewhat overwhelming but, we seem to be able to cope and really feel good about our efforts - as you should about your rescue efforts. Right now, we have three adult fosters and three litters of foster puppies, 7 pups total, (plus our own Goldendoodle and four Maltese) and this seems like our nest is empty. I am sure however, that there will be more dogs needing fostering in the near future...

BTW: our dogs live as house dogs, we don't kennel or crate them; except of the puppies who only run free when they are directly supervised...

It is our feeling that we need to give the dogs a head start towards house training and socialization. Having the dogs relatively free also allows us to assess their personalities and level of training. All our floors are tile and we have an acre of fenced in property which the dogs love...

    Elif

It is amazing how the house-trained dogs teach the ones who are not house-trained where and when to go potty. People who visit our home cannot believe the numbers of dogs we have because there is no dirt or odor anywhere...

Hi Richard, thanks for your comments, over here it is never ending, this year we have taken just short of 100 pups to the shelter, not to mention the adult ones too.
We run a neuter and release scheme in the village,we feel it has made a difference but they just keep on coming!
As for the Anatolian Shepherd dogs, yes we do get them from time to time (KANGAL) is the more common name here, big big strong beasts. There are a lot of sheep and goat farmers near us so we meet them on a daily basis.
You and your wife are doing a great job your end to Richard,so between us maybe we can make a small difference in this large worldwide problem!

    Cheers David

    David...

Saving one dog will not change the world. But, it will change the world for that dog!

Keep up the good work. Hopefully our examples will motivate others to at least spay and neuter their dogs...

We just had our three legged dog, Jasper, adopted and his new parents dearly love this great little guy...

Our organization has recently received another three legged dog whom we call "Little Boy Blue". He is a young puppy who had a shattered leg and hip and needed amputation. Even our orthopedic vet could not save his leg.

Here is an image one of our volunteers shot at the vet, soon after his amputation.

We are sure that Little Boy Blue, with a lot of TLC, will be able to cope as well on three legs as Jasper does.

You are very close to my heart David and Richard....Little Boy Blue made me reached for my Kleenex box...

    Richard,

I can testify that doggies learn from one another...they all have different personalities and teach one another their bad habits... well...at least mine does..

Here's Little Boy Blue recovering from his surgery in a nice warm sweater; blue of course.

It's amazing how well dogs can do on three legs. Jasper's adoptive mom said, "Jasper doesn't have any disability. He is just as able as any four legged dog..." Hopefully, the same will be true of Little Boy Blue!
