He is a cute little fellow... I gather those dark things of the head are eyes and they are not on the ends of the storks.
I downloaded a copy of Gimpshop to see if I could suggest something which might help you but it is a mystery programme to me so far I was wondering if in subjects like this you could take two or three shots , using manual focus or focus lock, gradually moving the camera closer so you have head/shoulders/body in focus and then assemble them as three layers and erase the fuzzy bits .... elementary focus stacking.
So far all I have worked out is how to duplicate an image to get two versions of it as two layers ... not sure if you can copy another file and paste it as a second layer ... an essential part of my suggestion ... will get back on that ... it is bedtime now
Sadly, as far as I know, I don't have any interesting creatures such as this in my garden

I was beaten to the word 'cute' -- but hey! it's Christmas -- I should be very tolerant. Good shot! It looks like your buggie is floating...just the right amount of blurriness too. What is s/he trying to munch on?--a peanut ? Anyway, s/he is a cute little fella. (Dang!I can't work out the gender...)

Did you try white as a frame?

I call them all 'she' odds are I'm right half the time. The 'peanut' is the part that is left at the bottom when the blossom fall away. If there had been a little more light i would have notched it up to F/8 for a little more depth but F/3 did do a nice job.

I did but with Picassa you can pick colours from the photo for the frame so i went with a inner and outer shade of red from the photo. To me it framed the shot without distracting from it.

I use GimpShop and it has some nice filters. Especially the sharpening. But it is a complicated program, as they all are so at this point i use what i can figure out in different programs.

Sadly we have no Christmas biscuits... yet. For us the lesser of two weevils is to postpone the Christmas goodies a little longer so our waist lines stay a little smaller.
