Beautiful View of Snow Clad Himalayas from Airplane

During my last trip to Assam (my home state) last month, I was flying with my family from New Delhi to Guwahati early in the morning. I wanted to capture the sunrise from the plane, so I kept my camera in the hand luggage with the 50mm lens mounted on it. As the day broke in, in the first lights of the morning I could see the towering Himalayas: one of Nature's most magnificent monuments. "Himalaya" is a Sanskrit word which literally means "Abode of Snow" (from hima: "snow", and alaya: "abode"); a term coined by the ancient pilgrims of India who travelled in these mountains.

Wanted to share two images I made that morning, C&C always welcome:

Those photos are well worth having in your collection.

They are great shots, especially when you think of them being taken through the window.

You did very well considering you are inside the plane...very beautiful. The first one is magnificent, the second one pleasant blue like as if water in an ocean...

    Thanks everybody.

Being inside the plane I had the advantage of that spectacular vantage point. At the same time I was limited by the narrow angle of view through the window and yes, I was shooting through the glass (had to clean it several times) all the time..........

Both impressive images considering how they were taken but No 1 is outstanding.

    Thanks for sharing these.

Both images are really good Bedanta, but for me the composition of the first one is great with interesting subjects in both the foreground and background that fit together perfectly!

You seem to have successfully managed to avoid one of the tricky aspects of shooting from an aircraft window inasmuch as you have successfully controlled cabin reflections on the glass. Nice work!
