The toned version won a recent Mini Mono Competition, but I am still not sure which is the better of the 2 versions. It is only very recently that I have tried digital printing in Mono, which may explain my indecision.

I kinda like the second one more. Not really sure why, I'm new to all this, but I enjoy that one more.

    Hi Roy

Both good, just different. I've only recently started experimenting with toning mono images in SiverEfex Pro and I think it can be quite effective for certain images. There's probably a lot of personal taste involved though.

Roy - #1 for me, it just seems to be a far stronger image, BUT perhaps even more so than 'normal' images, mono / toning style, strength, colour etc is a very personal decision - for what it's worth I think yours could also be a great opportunity for trying out a graduated toning.

Thank you for that suggestion - it would never have occurred to me in a million years. I will play around with it, perhaps shading it in from both sides toward the centre.
