    Road Atlanta

I went to Road Atlanta racetrack this weekend with some friends to work on video and stills there, and as someone who is not much of a car buff, I had a BLAST! I got some really nice shots considering it was my first time shooting an event like that. The weather was alright in the morning, but the clouds moved back in by midday, so I lost some good lighting. I can tell some things I need to improve, but we are planning on going back in March, so I am looking forward to sharpening my skills.

I'm still editing pics, but here are a few, with a link to the album they will be in as I edit more tonight. C&C welcome!

I'm a big motorsports fan and appreciate how difficult it is to convey the trackside experience to the uninitiated. I think you've done a fine job of capturing the sense of speed and skill required in close competition of this nature. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Where were you shooting from; the perspective is dramatic?

Hey Kim - I'm not a professional sports photographer, and I rarely shoot moving cars, but may I offer a suggestion?

Try shooting in Tv, AI Servo. I think that Auto has caused you some focus issues here. I thought at first that maybe you were just shooting a little slow for that length lens, but you should be able to hold a sharp focus at 1/400. Then, I saw you were shooting in Auto.

It's only a suggestion - I think you've done a reasonably good job - probably better than I'd get. But mucked up focus due to Auto, is so easily avoidable.
