Wine glasses in a new composition style for me

I had a lot of fun making this image. That's because, as the thread title indicates, the type of composition is entirely new for me.

Very interesting, Mike. I like where you are going here; might be worth it for you to continue trying new compositions, including variations on this one with these and other subjects.

I agree with Matt very interesting, and I am not saying that in the way my wife would take very interesting when used to answer how do you like it.

Do you mean because the glasses are completely intact!?!?

I like this Mike but wonder if we should be able to see the full rim of one of the background glasses. I'm picturing one being lower than the others but higher than the one in the foreground. Maybe a tapering down of the background three towards the right edge?

EDIT: Or none of the rim of the right-most glass?

I like it, Mike, the sad face leaps out at me. I would crop a bit of the top - to about half way between edge and the top of the main glass -- and clone out the white thing at the bottom (towards right of centre)

Mike: I have to agree with Andrew, the glasses completely intact what a novel concept.

For all you folks who think the glasses are intact, keep in mind that there might be a reason that not one of the four glasses is shown in entirety.

Shane and Greg: Your compositional modifications will certainly work. Unfortunately, none of them work as well for me as this one, surely because this composition is the one that I envisioned, though with one exception.

Shane will be glad to know that I had actually intended to include all of the top rim of the rear glass plus a little bit of background space above it. I made a crucial mistake in not understanding my equipment: I had remembered that the camera only displays 95% of the image but had forgotten that that applies to the viewfinder, not the Live View displayed in the LCD. I incorrectly planned that background space above the rim of the rear glass would be included in the captured image but it's not because I was using Live View to frame the composition, not the viewfinder.

Once I discovered my mistake, I cropped to eliminate the rear part of the rim because it was awful not having any background space above it. My guess is that this crop is at least 95% of the image captured in the camera. As it turns out, I like that the only glass displaying the entire top is the subject.

Allan Short: Unfortunately, my wife uses the word, "interesting," in exactly the same way as yours.

Greg: Sorry, but I don't see the sad face. I remember that you saw the map of Australia in one of my images awhile back, so feel free to alter this image also to display what you see.

Matt: Glad you like the concept. I'll definitely make more images in this style. Should be lots of fun!

You really do have a vivid imagination! I especially like the eye lashes. By the way, my wife thinks you spend way too much time looking for imagery in clouds.

LOL. I am lucky to have been born before we had tv in this country, so my early childhood was filled with books, radio, and colourful story-telling from people's personal experiences. I think people who grow up surrounded by t.v.s, computers, phones etc, are missing out on a lot.
