That is a very beautiful scene, well presented.

I wondered if we need as much at the bottom, or whether a crop might actually strengthen it. Moving it about in the lightroom I took it to the bottom of the screen. If you hide some of the bottom off the screen and look at it as a 4:5 or, even better in my view, a 1:1 ratio, you see what other options there may be.

On the other hand, if you're thinking about the image fro use on next year's Christmas card, then the ratio is fine.

That's nice. As Donald suggests, there are other crop options but I like what you presented very much.

Yes. Donald mentioned crop options and I do agree, but what I like about this picture as it is, is the graduation to darker at the bottom of the image. The transition gives a sense of depth and serves to lead the eye out into to stream and up through the picture. Nicely done.

Wonderfully done, Jon. There is a sense of peace and tranquility but yet the feel of frost in the air.

At first I thought, leave it as is, but then I reckoned on making it square and cropping at the edge of the river, before the river gets cut off, and that for me makes the best edit, ensuring the reflection is prominent.

I would leave the image as it is as the water leads you nicely into the image and that lovely reflection and the lovely hues of the sky, stunning image.

Is that the Snohomish River or a canal or tributary? Great steelhead fishing in the Snohomish I have been told....

Thank you all, I'm glad you enjoyed the pic. The above was taken at 40mm and below was at 105mm. I did work this scene for about 20 minutes, but then the call o coffee was to great.

The Sun was breaking through the fog, above what is called Lord's Hill, was very intense low angle light on a very crisp morning.

Richard this known as French Creek just upstream from where it joins the Snohomish river and it see's it's share of spawning salmon

I liked the little duck swimming towards me in this one

    Very WOW!

Love the 2nd one as the background mountains with the layers adds to the whole.

    That is an absolute beauty.

Even the duck worked with you to make it so good. One to really show off.

Lovely views... I adore the Pacific Northwest! For those folks who have not the opportunity to see a creek like this filled spawning salmon, it is an absolutely wondrous sight! I have seen small tributaries like this in Washington, Oregon and Alaska so filled with spawning salmon that it was difficult to see the bottom...
