Has anyone ever seen these?

Driving around in the countryside today and came upon this. I'm from farm country and I've never seen anything like it. Just wondering if anyone cares to guess what these are and if they have ever seen them before.

My guess is that they are ice fishing sheds.

Yes, these are veal sheds...

These sheds are used to house male calves on dairy farms.

Taktell Wins. I've seen the stalls in a veal barn where the calves were stuffed in so tight they could not move so they did not develop any muscle that might result in toughness of the meat, but this was something completly new to me. Sigh, I feel kind of sad tonight, don't know why.

Edit: Duhh, figured it out. Saddening, though. Poor cows.

If anyone wants to know more about animal cruelty and animal industries, you might want to check out a documentary called Earthlings. I believe you can find it on Google video. Be warned, however, as it is extremely graphic. Very informative though.

Sympathize with your feeling, but one question arises: would ppl refuse to eat beef (or just about any kind of meat) to protect these animals?

Yes, I would. It may not be much but I refuse to eat veal. I should refuse to eat at restautants that feature veal on their menus.

Sounds good Bill. I supose if we are all pro-active in our own way it could stand to make a difference. I don't want to go all activist in a photog forum, but Geeez, can't these poor animals at least play a little in their short lives.
Enough said by me on the topic. I was just shocked when I saw the huts and their occupants. From a distance the huts looked so small, I thought they were behives or something. Then when I drove by.... I just thought What the He**..... I'm not seeing this

I don't eat veal and mostly only eat chicken, turkey or fish. In fact I've never eaten veal and only eat free range even though I don't have a lot of cash.
