Great image. Only thing are the hotspots from top center to the upper RHS. Some burning or even cloning should get rid of them.

Brian...I don't know your software but I never been a fan of the normal D&B unless it's done on it's own layer...also I found it to be better to make a selection first, then make alternations.

Hi Brian. Cool concept and composition. Here's just a few suggestions to consider. Change the background (behind the leaf). I wonder if making it into a solid color or making it so out of focus that it wasn't recognizable wouldn't improve the image. Also, the extreme left side of the leaf with the whitish blotch I don't think adds anything to the image. Maybe consider eliminating part of it.

and there be the rub, I don't know my software either! Layers have not reached the top of my learning list... but they are getting there. As silly as this will sound I cannot even figure out how to apply a crop in Raw Therapee. My strong point is my eye, my weak point is the technology. So if you could explain 'normal D&B' just a little?

My point is that you made those "hot spots" muddy looking...unattractive.

At least you are getting there, inspite of watching tutorials and reading up, layers are a complete mystery to me.
More expeimenting needed here. A hands on workshop would be good for me!

On your image, I like the idea. In my view, a reshoot, with the foliage behind moved, so there were fewer dark spots in the leaf would be very impressive.
