An Unusual Commission (fun)

Driving out of the house today I came across my neighbour stood in the middle of the lane taking a picture with his mobile phone pointing straight downward at the road.

Anyway, to cut the story short he had almost come off his Harley navigating the terrain and needed evidence to put pressure on the local council to get the road sorted. It may even go to the local paper to see if they will use it in their 'name and shame' picture section that tends to concentrate road safety.

Hence, the below which attempts to show the depth of the problem

Hi Grahame,

FYI I have plenty of experience photographing flooded roads (on going fundraising), and the folks in the small town I lived in would be in heaven to have a road like the one in the image you posted!

Rainy season roads in the small town I once lived in..

Please excuse the quality of the photos... If I had to do it again I would do just fine, no more practice needed!

I replaced the word bike for Harley as I suspected some may understand the significance of this as my neighbour does and it's apparent Victor did. Unfortunately he has used that significance to promote his own bias

Driving up the lane last night in the dark with the headlights on gave the answer for the best lighting to show the severity of the terrain but still investigating what WB to use for car headlights

Auto WB?
Not as if it will need to be of award winning quality - although I appreciate you want it to be good enough to use in the paper.

It will depend on age of the vehicle, old ones have tungsten halogen (quite warm), even older ones have tungsten alone (warmer), but I would imagine the newer discharge lamps may approach daylight colour temperature - hence my suggestion to just shoot with Auto-WB in camera and, if shot RAW, it can be corrected later if it looks wrong.

But I bet you knew that really
