Weaver's Nests
There are many species of weavers, also called weaver birds, that make nests that hang from tree limbs. The male makes the nest and the female inspects it before agreeing to use it. The male often has to make four or five nests before meeting the female's requirements.
Notice in the photo below that the bird enters the nest from below. Notice also that the bottom of the limb on the right has one strand clearly showing that the bird has anchored the beginnings of a nest to the thorns and limb.
My photo of this tree has about 15 weaver nests in it.
There are also social weavers that build condominium nests as large as 10 feet by 20 feet that house as many as 100 birds, though I have never seen that type of nest.
