Pictures of the cotton harvest try #2

Ok, so I went back and reprocessed one of the pictures of the cotton field. I want to see what you think of this one. Also, here is a closeup of the cotton itself. Let me know what you think - be honest, be brutal, I can take it (I think).

I cropped the sky just a little bit tighter and wonder if this is improves the image or not, or whether it is just completely crap to begin with.

Second photo certainly has more impact; have you done a little more than just a crop?

But I suspect that is one of those scenes which don't transfer well between real life and a photo. I get loads of them!

Another shot when the cotton is actually being harvested may well have a lot more interest if you can include some real action.

A close up may work OK from a different angle but with this one there is more out of focus than the clear crisp well composed image that could be obtained from this subject.

Maybe try a closer crop with a different size ratio?

Keep trying, although I ditch at least 90% of scenes like this, occasionally one does work when the light and sky etc are slightly different.

    Hi, Tim.

I think the reprocess is clearly a stronger image- the mountains make a greater impact, but I suspect are just too far away to play a strong part in this image.

I like the closeup- few of us get to see how cotton looks in the field and think it just comes out as T-shirts. Perhaps a 1:1 crop would be more impactful?

the cotton close-up has had nothing done to it except some contrast and sharpening. I could crop it 1:1 and see how it comes out.

I do want to catch them harvesting the cotton, and I had the perfect opportunity today BUT..... I left the camera in the office so I didn't have it with me. I am gonna keep waiting for the right opportunity to get something from this cotton harvest besides just a cough (allergies).
