    Train station C&C welcome

I am interested in opinions and critique on this version. This is the last in a series taken as the sun was rising. The colour in the clouds was starting to fade and the background buildings were becoming too well lit and obvious Besides, work was calling (unfortunately).

There is a huge, bright doughnut shop sign just to the right. The buildings are blocking the lights from two parking lot lights and a traffic light. So I am pinned very much to this position. Unfortunately I failed to note that the tripod was not level so when I straightened the buildings a bit, I lost some frame to the right I would have liked

Opinions on the conversion are welcome.

Beautiful colours, Trevor. The taller building on the left seems to be leaning to the right a bit, although I see in the sooc that the far edge of the lower building is leaning to the left before you straightened it. Could there be a bit of lens distortion here?

Very nice capture. I think the colour and contrast in the first is better but the tower/silo look a little distorted.

Very nice captures. Of the pair it is #2 for me by a country mile, especially if that distracting tower like structure on the RHS flying a flag could be dismantled and sold off for scrap. And to be really picky what is your opinion of taking a chain saw to the power pole while you are at it, particularly the bit with the cross ties which can be seen under the eaves of the building and back lit by the sky? I also prefer the signage clarity on the side of the building in #1. But I would like it to be selective so that the outbuilding on the right hand side, as it is in #2, was not so obvious. Okay. Who am I try to kid? It is a far better shot than I could take. ( What is it they say? Those who can, do. Those who can't, pick fault in the work of others. Alright, "They" didn't say this. I just made it up as a feeble excuse for my picky comments! )

Just a couple of suggestions. But these are being overly critical of an excellent post.

Thanks everyone for the response. Go to the monthly competition for October to see the image I think really works, it was taken about five minutes earlier.

Ken: This was one of those instances when everything works (apart from the distracting lights, power poles and signs). There was a thick layer of white cloud behind me and the rising sun was underlighting them with a beautiful red glow. The rising sun is actually behind the base of the grain elevator (the taller of the two buildings) or 180 degrees from where I am standing. The red lighting on the side of the buildings closest to me is actually reflected light off the clouds to to the left of the image and behind me. There is also a large apartment complex with a lot of windows to the left of the image that is reflecting light.

I will never replicate this and it was just pure chance I was there.

I agree about the power pole and flagpole/flag. Time to revisit this and get out the cloning and healing tool

If we hadn't already seen that image we'd (I'd) be saying this was nice (I like the correction work). But, 'fraid this one doesn't come up to that other one. I think it's mainly the composition. The light in this one is fine. But, for me, it that all the elements just work so well together in that other one.
