Birds... black and white and more

Dottie and I went to the marsh at the wildlife reserve last Friday morning. The day dawned with broken overcast, a soft diffused light. These are some of my images that day. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Boat-tailed Grackle, a sub-species found in Florida. A little smaller with brown eyes.

Another beautiful set Joe. Egret and alligator come out tops for different reasons. The egret shots are just beautiful and you have caught a threatening look on the 'gater perfectly. I have been stalking what I think is a Snowy Egret on the salt marshes near here but I can't get anywhere near. It just moves on the extra few yards anytime I come close. No cover unfortunately.

Beautiful... The egret in flight is my favourite (gorgeous focus and detail) and the crocodile. Followed closely by the first two shots of the Grackle for the beautiful composition and the pretty blurred background.

Hello John, thank you for viewing and commenting. A suggestion for getting close in photographing birds, while all the birds I photograph are wild they are in wildlife reserves that many people frequent and enjoy. They are protected and accustomed to seeing people, so not as flighty. If there are areas like that in Great Britain, I would try those areas.

Hello Christina, thank you for viewing and commenting. The egret in flight was pretty much a grab shot. I burst out of the underbrush and across the trail I was on, I managed to get off three shots before it disappeared. The grackles were on the side of the trail that I would not even consider shooting if it had been bright and sunny, but with the bright overcast it was almost a shoot anywhere day.
