Hi Tim,
Great looking family you've got there!
The images themselves all look VERY soft though - have you applied any sharpening in post-production?
Were they shot RAW?
They were shot raw. I do have a little bit of a problem with getting some soft images. I think I needed to bump up the shutter speed. It was 1/125, and so I probably shouldn't have much camera shake in it, but I think that is the problem.
All lovely images even if a little soft. I adore image #3 and think it is extra special.
Lovely family Tim.
There doesn't appear to be any shadows that I can see so where the images taken in a well lit shaded area and maybe 125 was a little bit to slow for the conditions and maybe a faster shutter speed was needed. Image 3 is a belter, and is she your daughter? She has a mood on her face that says will you hurry up dad and take the image.
Dave.
the only adjustments to the pictures were some contrast, some highlights, and some shadow adjustment. Right now I am using Canon's Digital Photo Professional Software to make the changes. I am hoping to get lightroom for xmas.
Hi Tim,
Thanks for sending the file.
It's not a particularly sharp shot for some reason, which means that I've had to be considerably more aggressive with sharpening - which in turn has other consequences that are difficult to mitigate entirely, but having said that' I think it turned out OK in the end -- if you look at it at 100% magnification.
Colin, thanks for your work, and thanks for the other example. What software did you use for the PP?
