Trying to Capture the Moon help
Here's the newbie again...the other evening the moon was a bright orange "Harvest Moon" and this is what I got!! Very disappointed...since I'm new I simply had the setting on Night Landscape....I know I need to get a lens...What happened??? Even the blues have no contrast.....
I'm using Nikon 5100.

Re: Trying to Capture the Moon help
Although your subject was the moon, your camera meter exposed for the more dominant parts of the photo. That is it exposed for the sky, and water. What metering mode were you using?
A longer lens would have isolated your subject (moon) more, and eliminated your camera meter from exposing for areas other than the moon.

Depending on how serious you are about this insane hobby...have you considered shooting in RAW and doing your own post processing rather than relying on the camera's interpretation of the scene?
