    Photo Books on Kindle

I love photography and enjoy books about photography.

Since I purchased my NOOK HD+ tablet and uploaded the Kindle App for the NOOK, I have been getting some books via kindle.

They are usually less expensive (some are actually free) and they don't take up any space on my bookshelf (thus no static from my wife regarding the number of books I own).

I get them immediately - so that satisfies my need for immediate satisfaction...

I purchased "Plug-In With NIK" by John Batdorff which was quite a bit less expensive than the print edition; "Viveza: The Secret to Breathaking Photography" by Robin Whalley, which is only available for the Kindle; and several free Kindle books on general Photography. Both the NIK books are quite good. I don't know about the free books, I haven't read them yet, but, if I don't like them, I can always delete them from my NOOK. The price is right zero U.S. dollars, zero Euros and zero Pounds Sterling!

I believe that Kindle books can be downloaded to and read from a piece of gear running any Android system...

Since I have been carrying my NOOK just about everywhere, I can have a library with me.

I used a NOOK edition of a Venice tour guide book but, prefer paper print guide books since I will often just tear out the section for my day's itinerary.

I have to investigate if the Canon User Manual for my 7D is available for me to have on my nook. That would be handy. There is the excellent David Busch "Compact Field Guide to the Canon 7D" available for a Kindle but, I already own that in the paper version...

Richard, again the gods have smiled on me in finding someone else that has one of those things.
However, they seem to have age discrimination algorithms built into them...my older mind hasn't figured out how to use it yet...now I know where to come for guidance.

BTW, can you use it as a laptop to shoot tethered?

Richard, you may not have to find a Kindle version of the manual if you can fins a copy of it in PDF -although I haven't got one I believe the Nook, like many other tablets, will allow you to read PDF's by converting them to ePub. A quick google will document the process better than I.

    Chauncey,
I am a real rookie on the NOOK and an aged rookie at that! I do have one great advantage. There is a Barnes and Noble brick and mortar store very convenient to me. There are salespersons in that store who are exceptionally knowledgeable on the NOOK and I frequently go there for help with complicated things like how to turn the darn thing on.
They were very helpful in helping me install the Kindle App for the NOOK, even though Kindle is a competitor.
I have also been looking for an App which will let me control my Canon DSLR through the NOOK. There should be one out there since the NOOK HD+ has android capabilities. I especially want an app which will allow more than 3-shot auto exposure bracketing for HDR imagery and which will allow focus stacking.
I will post anything I find on this thread and send you a PM when (and if) I learn something...

Thanks a lot! BTW, I misread your post...I have a Kindle, not a Nook.
