    Sunset Jay Series

Shot at my back yard perch. First two were shot about 20 minutes after the last two as the sun was just setting.

Nice. I especially like the second perch with the white flowers. What is the background? Natural, or something staged? Thanks

Lovely... # 2 is my favourite. I adore the complementary colours.

    Thanks all.

yes..would like to have got the tail in #3 but missed it. Next time.

The background is a bamboo curtain draped over a fence.

I will post behind the scene set up later if the severe thunderstorm warning doesn't materialize into actual storms

ok...My set up for these pictures. EXIF was included in pics above.

This is my perch and background. Very simple. I have a small feeder below the perch where I place seeds and peanuts etc. It is important to keep the feeder very small as it makes them compete for the space and you get more action. The BG is simply stapled to the fence. I can change it easily to whatever I like. Sometimes I add a branch of flowers midway between the perch and BG to give it some color and make it appear more natural looking.

I am set up about 12 feet on the other side of the feeder directly inline with the BG.

This is a window in my shed that I shoot from. The camera is set up on a tripod with lens sticking out the holes. Two holes to use two completely different backgrounds and perches in the same shoot. The birds do not even notice me behind the camo cloth.

    And this is the result

I don't shoot birds so when I saw your first posting I was wondering how you did it with such beautiful clean background. Thanks for sharing your set-up, it has given me some things to try out.

    BTW, real good images
