Any views on Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100

I'm looking to get a compact to carry around, purely for 'opportunist' images and the RX100 (old version not the M2) seems to fit the bill nicely, but I'd be grateful for any input members may have - RAW is an essential if anyone has any alternative to suggest.

    TIA

I use it as my backup/take anywhere camera. Image quality is great, probably the best you can get from a camera this size. The lack of viewfinder can be an issue in strong outdoor light, sometimes I need to guess where I am aiming as the LCD becomes hard to see. But this is a compromise hard to avoid if you want true pocketability..

This is a crop from a handheld holiday snap, full resolution, no editing, to give you a sense of what it can do.

Tack - That image really helps, especially being handheld. Agreed about the lack of a viewfinder but I'm in that situation with the camera that this one will be replacing so I'm used to that compromise.

    Thanks again
