    Mantis C&C Appreciated

My daughter came running in the house the other day excited about seeing a bug that she had never seen before. My daughter is a mix of "girlie girl" and tom boy. Loves dresses and dolls but will go out and catch bugs with the best of them.

I went outside to see what she was so excited about and took my camera with me. I really wish I had a dedicated macro lens but I did the best I could with what I have. C&C is appreciated.

    Hi Kris.

Cool find for your daughter. Suggest reducing the hightlights a bit as mantis appears very bright on my monitor.

Gave the picture another work over. I think the on camera flash might have been a little strong for this guy.

Second version is better Kris. Sharp all over and I don't think that a dedicated macro lens would have improved on this.

As it is somewhat soft and lacks sufficient DOF but, taking into consideration
that is was not a 'planned out shot" it didn't come out badly at all.
