    Waiting for the Whales

This shot was taken at a popular tourist location. One of the attractions is the possibility of sighting migrating whales - at the right time of year. People line up along the rocky headland and peer out to sea.

I like this shot becaue I think the body language of the tourists captures the hope and disappointment of seeing/not seeing a whale. I have cropped it with a large expanse of sky to suggest the vastness of the sea and sky beyond the coastline and therefore the slight chance of seeing a whale on any particular day.

The arrangement of the groups and their motionlessness suggests a tableau to me.
(Probably need to view at full size)

    C&C welcome.

I like it Greg, especially when viewed full size. I think you've achieved your aim.

Pity you didn't have a tog with a 600mm telephoto in shot.
