Fireweed is Blooming in AK
Next door we have a vacant lot that is full of fireweed. Shot this yesterday AM. Looks like my WB is off.

Hope the neighbour is friendly, Dan. That second one is a beauty.
I am ashmed to admit I'd never heard the name Fireweed before this. We know it as Bay Willow Herb and, yes, it's gets as rampant and out-of-control; with us as I'm sure it does with you.
But we don't have those sort of things walking through it!

2nd one for me as well and your WB look OK here. I know there isn't much to see but the white spots in the eyes look about right.

Re: Fireweed is Blooming in AK
Thanks, guys. I also like the second one best. No localized processing done on these two. I think I'll go back on the second one and optimize it a bit. It still looks slightly bluish and I may try cloning out the one bit of grass that is in the corner of the one eye.
Donald, over here it's called fireweed because it is typically the first thing that grows back in areas that have been burned over.

Aah...I might suggest that you have a moose living there and I don't think the fireweed
would concern me...unless he's a family pet.

Another frame had better eye contact. Here it is.

I almost missed this because of your title... I've always wanted to see a moose... Beautiful images of a beautiful animal...
I like #1 the best because I can see the eyes and because he/she looks rather mischievous.

Very gentle, loving look in those eyes but I hope these weren't taken with a wide angle lens. Brilliant set of images. I don't see any problem with the white balance.
