    Bridge in Purple

I took these shots last night in the city. The Story Bridge has just had new lights fitted which can be changed in colour. Last night they were a spectacular purple colour. I'd appreciate your feedback on the pros and cons of the different compositions and anything else you care to mention. I'm quite fond of 2 and 4 but are the lamp lights a distraction ?

If the bridge is the 'main attraction' then the lights are definitely a distraction, Dave.

However, for a nice well balanced general night time scene with the bridge as part of the background, then I like the lights as they are.

Very nice pictures. I do not find the streetlights a distraction.

I find the 2nd and 4th better than the 1st. I think the large bare patch of sand is a bit distracting and uninteresting. Also, I don't think the coloured lights of the bridge offer the viewer sufficient interest, particularly in this perspective where other lights in the background are shining through the bridge structure.

The 2nd one is my preferred shot. It is a well balanced night time scene in which the brigde is just part of the overall prospect.

Thanks for your comments Geoff, Bruce and Greg. Much appreciated.

Greg I was expecting the lights to be maroon this week, I'm sure they will be on Wed night. One thing for certain - they won't be blue.

Dave, I suspect our premiers will eventually make that part of the competition: the losing state not only has to fly the winner's flag from the respective bridge, but also has to turn the lights blue or maroon.
