    The Thinker

The light early this morning was really nice so I grabbed my camera to see if I could get a few pics of the nesting Kildeer in our driveway. But this is what I got instead. I rarely post pictures of my pets, but I was pretty pleased with these. However, the ISO was at 6400 so the noise and sharpening were a bit of a challenge even though the exposure was pretty good on them. C&C welcome and appreciated.

#1 This inspired the title. I may spend some time cloning out the light blobs above her head when I get the LR5 upgrade.

Good shots. I wish I could get my cat to pose like that.

Nice use of the available light. Can't have too many crisp shots of the critters. They're very nice.

Great shots of the fury friend. The only thing he is thinking is when is my next meal coming or do I have the energy to go catch my own again ?

Hey, Terri. IMO the second shot is the stronger of the two. There are two issues with the first shot. You already mentioned the bright spots. The second issue is that the whiskers on the far side of the face are outside the DOF. Particularly because they are highlighted against a darker BG it is critical to me that they be in focus. Cats are all about eyes and whiskers. Those two features need to be tack sharp. It looks like you had a similar issue on the second shot but the OOF whiskers are blended in behind the ones that are sharp so it isn't a factor.

Pretty darn good shots with excellent detail at ISO 6400.

Thanks everyone for your comments. #2 is also my favorite.

Dan, thanks for the additional feedback. I hadn't really thought of cats in that light and I think you are right. Something to think about for next time.
