    3 chairs

I came across these three chairs that were very inviting. Hope to hear any critique or comments on the execution and the PP.

Hi Steven - I agree with you about the chairs looking inviting! And I think it's very nice - the monochrome treatment lends itself well to this image. Great shot!

Very nice indeed, the long exposure with the streaking clouds a great effect. May not have known at time image was taken however the white clouds behind that tree really make it stand out and the lean, it looks like it is being pulled in the same direction as that of the cloud movement. It was the three chairs that caught your eye which are great, however it is the movement in the sky, the tree, and being in B&W that really set those 3 chairs off. I looks like it could have been taken in Cottage Country.

    Cheers:

I think I would have preferred the top of the tree to be there but that is a well seen shot. Good work.

My compliments as well. That, I think, is a very well constructed and presented image.

Steven I think it's a very good image and I think that is a result of making sound decisions throughout the whole photographic process. ie the composition, the choice of a slow shutter speed (presumably using an ND filter ?) And the processing choices including the B&W treatment.

    Nice work

thank you all for the comments and critique. This genre is still a journey for me. Still learning to calculate the right exposure for these moments.

Allan, this was shot at Bemidji Lake Park that is by the side of Bemidji State Uni where my daughter is studying.

Donald, coming from a B&W 'sifu' it means a lot as I like your photos.

Dave, I used two ND filters; 10 + 6 stopper. The wind was still where I was positioned so it helped with the tree branches.

I really like the image , and the processing, but I really want to see the top of the tree.

Another thumbs up. Especially for the long exposure of the clouds highlighting the branches of the tree. Good range of tones captured. Well balanced with nothing fighting for attention.

Steve, Andrew thanks for the comments.

Steve, honestly I did not think of capturing the whole tree as my focus was on the 3 chairs.

Hi Steven, this picture really gives me a sense of different time frames. It feels like the sky is operating in a different time frame than the chairs and the trees. Very nice.

The tree trunk leads you up and out of the image. If there was a bit of space at the top, you wouldn't be lead out of the image.

thanks for the comments, I think Steve has a point that he made in a later post about having the top of the tree to be shown

that is an interesting thought which I have not seen it from that perspective before. Personally, I have always loved long exposures and it works well with moving clouds. Thanks for the comment
