    The Moon @630mm FFE

Hi. Never shot the moon again, since I got rid of my Superzoom camera (Kodak Z990). I had 840mm FFE with the Kodak.

Tonight (half an hour ago!) I saw a beautiful moon, so I decided to give it a try, even having much less focal length capability than a superzoom has (although I can crop much more). I used the longest focal length my gear can give me, that means a 300mm lens + 1.4 TC = 630mm FFE (300mm*1.5 crop factor * 1.4 TC).

Here is the result (already agressively cropped). I am not disapointed, but would like to know your opinion. C&C welcomed. Thanks for viewing.

    Shot handheld, 1/1000s, F/5.6, ISO 400

Yours stands heads and heels over what I got.

In case you did not know - it was the super moon that we photographed.

    Hi Otavio.

I too saw that beautiful moon last night but I did not get my camera out. I wish I did now looking at this show because this is pretty cool. I think you have done a great job.

Nice one. It also looks very well on that white frame so, yes, well done.

Thanks, Bobo. Yes, I heard they announcing it on tv (News), as super moon. Thanks for pointing it out, anyway. Cheers,

    Otavio,
It is a very good photo for a 630 mm FFE shot handheld.
You said you cropped the picture aggressively. How much?

    All the best,
    Antonio.

Hello, Antônio. Thank you very much for viewing and commenting. I cropped it from original 4928 x 3264 pixels to 2368 x 2064. After the PP, I applied the borders and reduced size, for posting

    Cheers,

Hi Richard. Well, with the recent economic growth, we managed to buy one (second hand, but still reflecting!) . Thank you very much for passing by. Cheers,

    Cheers,
    Otavio,
    Your cropped you photo from original 4928 x 3264 pixels to 2368 x 2064.
    4928 / 2368 = 2.081;
    3264 / 2064 = 1.581.
Then the crop factor is 1,581.
    300 mm (lens) x 1.5 (APS-C) x 1.4 (TC) x 1,581 = 996 mm FFE.

    4928 x 3264 = 16 Mpixels (original)
    2368 x 2064 = 4.9 Mpixels (croped)
    1127 x 1000 = 1.1 Mpixel (posted in CiC)

Your original 16 Mpixels photo @ 630 mm FFE was transformed on a 4.9 Mpixels @ 996 mm FFE.
You posted your 1.1 Mpixel picture @ 996 mm FFE with only 56.9 kB and your result is very good!

    Congratulations!

    Antonio.

Thanks, Antônio. And your math is absolutely accurate! . Rounding the numbers, it is like a ~1000mm FFE picture @ ~5Mp, which is not bad...Thanks for pointing that out!

    Cheers!
