    Try, try again

I went all the way to Jim Jim Falls last week for a shoot for my upcoming exhibition only to loose the images due to a fault with my card. What else can you do but have another go. It's only 6 hours drive anyway. Here are a few from the gorge and the billabong where I camped. C&c always appreciated.

A great set and variety. Well done, Wayne. A wonderful sense of being out in the open in tune with nature.

I particularly like this because not only is it, I think, an excellent composition that gives us a striking foreground and it also allows us to look behind that into an equally interesting background, but also, given what I'm guessing was quite a lighting challenge (as well as physical), a great technical success.

I think the exposure has been just right in that it has stopped short of completely fluffy water. The detail of the texture in the rocks is beautiful.

Seemed to be worth the trip. I hope the second set surpassed the first try; if only in compensation for your effort. The gorge is well composed and shot; the water is fascinating. Love the sunset and reflection in the water with the skeletal trees.

Thank you Donald, you are right about the challenging light. Gorges are alway tricky during the day so these are the sort of shots I look for while waitning for the shadows to go away. Looking down rather than looking up is the trick in gorges. the landscape picture was taken at about 6pm when the sun had left the building and the shadows were gone.

    Hi Greg,

Lets swap houses for a month. I have long wanted to take my camera to beautiful Tasmania. Thanks for the compliment.

    Hi Tom,

The card was sent to a data recovery team in Adelaide who couldnt recover the data. The problem was two copper prongs had snapped off in the card from the card reader and I then put it back into the camera when the computer couldnt read the files. This off course pushed the prongs further into the card and made it impossible to get then out. The lessons learnt are: Never use cheap card readers and if your computer doesnt recognise the files on your card reader, dont put it back into the camera. Check the readers prongs are all there because if they are not, then they are in your card.

You better take warm weather clothing, Tasmania is presently 10oC cooler than Darwin!

Oh to be cold, that would be an experience. We get excited if it gets below 25 here.
