    Sailing regatta

Whilst back in England for a few weeks to see my parents, family and friends I spotted a sailing regatta taking place over the bank holiday weekend.I was pleased how these two images came out, they were converted to B&W using Nik Silver EfexPro because I wanted the emphasise to be on the sailors and there were some very bright colours drawing the eye away from them.

Nice photos. I will now display my total ignorance of sailing - why are the sailors looking in the direction that appears to be opposite the direction they are going in (particularly the second photo)? Or at least that is what it looks like.

That is dinghy sailors for you, Ben, going one way and looking the other!

Possibly about to change direction, so they are checking on the position of nearby craft.

Works well, and the light appears to have been a little difficult.

    Nice shots Neil,

Love the separation given by the f/2.8 on #1 and the feeling of being right in there from the low angle and the design of the dinghy letting us see inside so well.

    Well done,

First one: a riot of lines! Such a sense of action. Very nicely done and fun to look at.

I like these two photos. They look good in black and white. You did well capturing the action of the sailors in the dinghy.

Thank you for your complimentary replies, sailing being a sport I have no knowledge of I did find it very confusing as to what was going on though it was quite exciting at times to watch, with the yachts very close to each other.
